Past experiences is a new segment that I will write on my blog that involves me retelling certain stories and events that have happened during my lifetime that involves me or other people in the reation of omputer games or other things. Just to make this place a tad bit more interesting. Read about my GameDC experience.
The GameDC competition was a competition for all those who wished to win a prize by creating a computer game using the computer game creation software Game Maker. As soon as I heard what the Game DC was all about I quickly registered and hoped to create a game so that I could win. Hence, the latter did not come true for me. As we had left entry to the competition so late, we could not finish the game quick enough so that we could send it in as our entry. The game was based off Legend of Zelda and from the moment we decided on creating a Zelda game I knew we would not have enough time to finish it. I had secretly started working on another game, which I entitled ‘Click!’ as just a cheap shot at a game entry (there was only about four days left before we had to send in our game entries).
Disaster struck when my friend’s computer shit itself and the game that we originally planned on entering had become corrupt (meaning that it was not working properly). To make matters worse, I had realized that my ‘Click!’ game was too short in terms of playability, and it was also too easy. As the time arrived to send in our work, we ended up sending nothing. Needless to say that my computing teacher was not very happy! I had originally planned on letting the readers here download my attempt at ‘Click!’ but alas, I must have deleted it as I cannot find it. Perhaps that was good in a way.
NOTE: The Game DC competition is a game creation competition that was run by the good people at Murdoch University. I am unsure as to if the competition is being run this year.
